HostGator playing sneaky tricks
You may have read thousands of positive and excellent reviews about Hostgator.com. They are a reputed and among top web hosting companies of world. But recently I came across some interesting sneaky tricks being played by hostgator.
- Lots of webmaster claim that, most Hostgator positive reviews are actually paid reviews. Hostgator has paid some amount or provided some free hosting to that website owner for posting a positive review about Hostgator. You may even find some paid forum posts with positive review of hostgator. I will not say, all positive reviews of Hostgator are paid, but some people claim that most positive hostgator reviews are paid.
- Hostgator hijack 404 error page of all hosted accounts. They change 404 error page of all hosted account to theirs own page like "Hosted by Hostgator" or with a "discount coupon" page to bribe visitors to host with them.

If you install Wordpress on your domain, Hostgator will automatically install their own plugin that adds a footer link to Hostgator on your WordPress blog.
